What is the Human Givens Approach?
At Feeling Better we are guided by the Human Givens approach, a solution-focussed therapy which draws upon a variety of effective and evidence based therapeutic approaches.
The Human Givens approach provides support for a wide range of emotional and psychological difficulties, primarily by helping us recognise our emotional needs, and supporting us to meet those needs in better balance, by strengthening the use of our own innate resources and where necessary developing new skills. We are also able to identify and free up those areas where we might be stuck in the process, perhaps due to past conditioning or trauma.
The approach is informed by current understanding of neuro-science and the way that our brains work, and is designed to improve wellbeing rapidly, restoring hope and confidence as quickly as possible.
We are also guided by an awareness of the importance of other pillars of health, including >
sleep; nutrition; movement and exercise; relaxation; the importance of relationship and community; new and emerging evidence in other fields of biology and medicine; the important role of conventional medicine
and our holistic approach to good mental health takes all these factors into account.
Registered members of the Human Givens Institute are entered on its professional register, which is accredited in the UK by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) for Health and Social Care.
The PSA are an independent body accountable to the UK Parliament and promote the health, safety and wellbeing of patients, service users and the public by raising standards of regulation and voluntary registration of people working in health and care.
The Human Givens Institute is one of six psychotherapy and counselling registers accredited by the PSA which have taken the lead in creating guidelines for safe practice and training in psychotherapy and counselling known as the Scope of Practice and Education (SCoPEd) framework.
